I wrote this song about my parents' divorce in the middle of growing up, and how sometimes you can cry so much that it starts to feel like you're being cut up by every drop. It's me there on the tape, just out of high school.

Original audio recorded in 1982, recovered from cassette tape in 2020, mastered in 2022.

Lyrics, arrangement, and vocals by Colleen.

Today I cried Steel Tears,
They fell like broken mirrors,
and no-one, no-one,
saw them fall but me

Last night I had a dream,
I cried a steady stream,
of steel tears, steel tears,
and no-one there, to see

I'm not as detached
as I'm going to get,
the tears have fallen,
I know that I haven't
finished crying yet
The tears have fallen,
and left me wet

And who I thought were friends
have let our friendship end
and I cant, I can't, understand why

Here I am, alone again it's best,
I know, oh, oh,
evil's from your point of view,
which I've left -
so now the evil is gone?

Last night I slept and dream't,
and in my dream I wept,
steel tears, steel tears,
and no-one there, but me.
