GUCCI - The Poor Hotel Dishwasher That Built a Billion Dollar Luxury Brand

Gucci is one of the most expensive luxury brands in the world. The founder of the famous empire Guccio Gucci was actually born in a poor family in Florence, Tuscany.

His parents survived by making straw hats. And one day expected their son to take over the business. But by the time Gucci turned 17, He was forced to leave the country when his father's business went bankrupt and the family fell apart.
To make ends meet, Gucci went to London and got a job as a dishwasher at the Savoy Hotel -one of the most luxurious hotels in England at the time. Gucci worked his way up from dishwasher to waiter, to bellhop and also elevator attendant.
After saving enough money, Gucci returned home to Florence and began a new life. He began working for a company that made quality leather products and learned everything about the business. But he always dreamed of having his own store .

But unfortunately, in first the few years after opening his shop, he was struggling to make profit. Gucci didn't even had money to pay his bills. He came to a point where he was hoping for a miracle to happen, because he was drowning in debt. Thankfully a miracle did happen. His future son in law lent him the money he needed to keep the business going. In the next few months, Gucci paid back his loans and began working with the best artisans in Tuscany in creating one of the most luxurious and elegant products.

So the poor dishwasher who was struggling to make ends meet and had to overcome many obstacles in his life created one of the most expensive luxury brands in the world. The store that almost went bankrupt became the most valuable brand of all time.
