EHR: Basement Bird Thunderbird Gets a Supreme Upgrade

The wire wheel hubcaps on the '63 T-Bird just weren't doing it for me. I hunted long and hard for the right wheel and tire combo. I wanted Astro Supreme wheels, because they were one of the first mass produced mag wheels to hit the market in the early '60s and I am going for that early to mid '60s mild custom look. Seems like I only find Ford pattern wheels when I need Chevy, and Chevy pattern when I need Ford. I ended up ordering a set of 15x7" Cragar Supreme wheels from Summit. I wanted 6" wide, but lo gots. These 7 inches have a 3.5" backspace, so I knew they would fit without the skirts, but wasn't sure about the skirts fitting. Shod with 205/75r15 thin whitewall tires, they fit the car perfect and give it the exact look I was going for. Bad news: Skirts don't clear, the wheels needed at least a half inch more backspacing. Good news: I like the car better without the skirts anyway, so I'm thrilled with the look.
