Wo Long Fallen Dynasty: Zhang Liang, General of Man | Boss Fight (Review & Tips)
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty continues Team Ninja's popular tradition of fast-paced combat punctuated by over-the-top flair and flourish mixed with the punishing difficulty and mechanics of Soulslike titles. Building upon mechanics established in Nioh which were improved in the sequel Nioh 2, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty creates an experience that feels both new, yet familiar.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a brand new, upcoming action role playing game set in China during the chaotic Three Kingdoms Era. A collaborative effort from industry veterans Team Ninja, known for such massive hits as the Nioh and Ninja Gaiden series, as well as Koei Tecmo, creators of the longstanding and highly successful Dynasty Warriors franchise of videogames — Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty tells the tale of a nameless militia soldier fighting for survival in an alternate, fictional version of the Later Han Dynasty period.
At its core, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a highly challenging masocore game in the same vein as Dark Souls by FromSoftware or more accurately, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Played from a third person perspective, it features fast-paced, punishing melee combat that demands skill, strategy and mastery of various gameplay mechanics, as well as learning enemy behavior patterns and how best to counter them.
Similarly to Nioh and true to Team Ninja form, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty blends together real-life historical events and locations with fictional dark fantasy and supernatural elements centered around local mythologies and ancient folklore. In this retelling of historical tales, players will take on the role of the nameless protagonist who must carve a path through war-torn battlefields, fending off demon hordes and a host of other evil creatures infesting the Three Kingdoms.
With Team Ninja tapping into Koei Tecmo's expertise on the Three Kingdoms era and the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel by Luo Guanzhong, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will focus on the years of the Yellow Turban Rebellion leading to the fall of the Han Dynasty, which kickstarts the beginning of the Three Kingdoms Era. During this timeframe, iconic figures of the period were yet to be recognized by the world, hence the name 'Wo Long' which translates to Crouching Dragon. This term also refers to a person of greatness who is yet to be known. This is a story of legends in the making and will see players come across the iconic heroes of the Three Kingdoms before their rise to glory, as well as the rise of the lowly protagonist from a nobody into a key figure that helped shape this rendition of an epic historical tale.
