Joint Light Tactical Vehicle will replace the old Humvee fleet. You might think it's just a souped up version of the Humvee but there is a ton going on here behind the scenes that you can’t see, we’re going to dive into why the Military wanted to replace the Humvee completely here. We also want to find out why they might be steering away from JLTV now.

Keep in mind the humvee has been in service since 1985 it’s naturally difficult to get rid of something with a legacy like that.

I went ahead and read the entire JLTV congressional report for you and found the most interesting information from it. I’m like that nerd that does all your homework for you on the off chance you’ll hook me up with the cheerleaders. In 2006 they started developing the JLTV because of all the complaints from troops in the field about how unarmored humvees were the biggest problem the had in combat. In 2015 Oshkosh won the $6.5 billion dollar bid to make nearly 17,000 JLTVs. Just last year the Army started receiving those first JLTVs for their units.

The appearance of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) visual information does not imply or constitute DoD endorsement.
