Collin Gow, C.N.C. goes foraging in Florida with his son on an island with aquatic and upland ecosystems. Together they identify and discuss wild, edible and inedible plants and their biological actions, health benefits, nutritional properties, and ethnomedicinal uses. Unique identifications include: the BIGGEST GREENBRIER/BULLBRIER we have ever seen, Red and Black Mangrove, Cactus (Opuntia austrina), Candyroot (Polygala nana), Perennial Glasswort, Saltwort, Narrow-leaved Blue-eyed Grass, and much more! We see some gopher tortoises foraging too, scale an observation tower, and go through some exhibits at the island's education center. Subjects such as botany, morphology, phenology, phytochemistry, ethnopharmacology, folk medicine, traditional medicine, natural medicine, and Native American (American Indian) medicine come up while on the hike.
