CMV: All guns sold in the US should be hot pink
What is wrong with this idea? At the very worst it wouldn't increase gun violence, and at best it might prevent some.I think a worst case is that it looks like a toy to children. Like a hot pink nerf gun.

If all guns were pink... there would be nothing odd about owning one and therefore deterring no one.
Even the collectors items? The centuries old Kentucky Rifle needs to be hot pink?
Are we pretending that black spray paint cans don’t exist?

How many people will be :FinedHarassedForced to fill out oodles of paperworkArrestedShotOtherwise botheredTo follow some harebrained scheme that “might” reduce gun ownership, which isn’t even something that is desirable for its own sake? All laws have a cost.
At the very worst it wouldn't increase gun violence, and at best it might prevent some.Because this isn't how we decide laws. You've provided zero empirical evidence to suggest that this would do anything, you're just making a personal guess and saying it should be law.
Generally people notice the sound more than the color.
Any gun could be spray painted for about $1 to change the color and then nobody would think the new blue or black or red gun was real.We also have about 300 million guns already in this country. It wouldn't reduce crime in any meaningful way
This would be an elaborate requirement that could be overcome by a can of spray paint.
and at best it might prevent some. How could the gun being pink (rather than an individual's own decision to not partake in gun violence) prevent anything?

As with all proposed gun control measures the same question applies - how to you implement this for the 400mil existing guns currently in circulation?
Would you care what color your fire extinguisher was? Or would you just care that it will work if god forbid you ever need it?
