Ratangad Fort -
Very less has been mention about the fort in history, it has a tower like a surveillance tower.Ratangad was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle. The base village for this trek is also Ratanwadi, it has an Amruteshwar temple which is famous for its carvings. The fort is origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. The Bhandardara dam is built on this river.
The main attraction at Ratanwadi is the Amruteshwar temple dating back to the Hemadpant Era - roughly from the eighth century.
The base village Ratanwadi is approached by boat from Bhandardara. By boat, it is a 6 km journey and further it is a 4 km walk till Ratanwadi.

This route which we have taken is from Ratanwadi village which is base village for Ratangad trek also.

Best time to Visit - June to Feb

Water and Food -
Water is available on the Fort.You need to arrange your own food.

Stay / Accommodation - You can stay in cave, its very windy at top camping in open at top is not advisable.

Kasara – 50 km from Base village Ratanwadi.

Buses are available from Igatpuri/Kasara stations to reach Shendi, near Bhandardara (approx 20 km from base village Ratanwadi.)

To reach at Ratanwadi, there are following options:
—Take a jeep or van from Shendi to Ratanwadi.
—Take a boat directly from Shendi stop or Bhandardara dam to Ratanwadi.
