Chuck Smith, in my experience one of the most gracious individuals I ever had the pleasure to speak with. And as the current movie about his life shows, the Jesus Revolution, his graciousness was not the product of his theology. It was actually in spite of it.

Because the doctrine of original sin does not express the grace of God. It expresses an angry hatefilled God who can not love us until someone has paid a penalty for all our bad works. This is surely not the love of God Paul the Bible teaches. Because even human love, that does not even begin to express the amazing depth of God's love, is not based on such a requirement.
