AB 218 LANDMARK law for child sexual assault victims in California

This might be the most important video I have ever done. Many kids (under the age of 18 at the time of the sexual assault or sexual abuse) have had their lives shattered both emotionally, spiritually, and financially due to the predatory acts of a child abuser or molester and the institutions or organizations that employ them.

Now, California Governor Gavin Newsome has signed LANDMARK legislation called AB 218 also known as the California Child Victims Act. This law seeks to hold predators, and their employers liable for "child sexual assault" (which now has a very broad definition incorporating sections of the penal code to expand the definition including Penal code sections 286, 286, 288, 289, 311.4, and 647.1).

The most AMAZING thing about this new law is that it has a "3-year lookback window" which allows ANYONE who has been sexually assaulted (ex. even a 75-year-old), to bring claims against the predator and their company that employed them.

This new law allows brave victims the opportunity to confront their wrongdoers, stand up to them, tell them what they did was wrong, and to recover damages and hopefully to move on to live the lives they perhaps could have lived. As it has been said "it is never too late to be who you might have been."

The law also allows "treble damages" if a Plaintiff can prove the abuser or their organization or institution took acts to "conceal" the wrongdoing, and/or failed to take action to prevent the abuse despite "red-flag" knowledge.
