In this episode by Torrent Subpoena Defense Lawyer Steve Vondran discusses a Malibu Media case where the judge questioned what appeared to be boilerplate legal bills being submitted to the Court. The Attorney for Malibu has some splaining to do and looks like he just got by without a disciplinary charge. Crazy stuff goes on in these cases; you have to look at all declarations and documents being submitted to the Court.

Malibu Media, LLC is an American adult film company that retails members-only websites containing copyrighted videos of professional quality. The company is based in California and was founded in 2004. Malibu Media distributes its films through the Internet and via physical media such as DVDs. It has been involved in a number of high-profile copyright infringement lawsuits, most notably against individual file sharers. In many of these cases, Malibu Media's attorneys have used the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to obtain the identifying information of alleged infringers from their Internet service providers (ISPs). Malibu Media has been criticized for its aggressive litigation tactics, which have been described as "nuisance suits." However, the company has defended its actions, arguing that its aim is not to stifle free speech but to protect its intellectual property rights.
