03.19.23 "Our Divine Homesickness"

When we understand what it is, we can make productive use of it. I’m talking about what ACIM defines as that haunting feeling that something just isn’t right. "This world you seem to live in is not home to you. And somewhere in your mind you know that this is true. A memory of home keeps haunting you, as if there were a place that called you to return, ... Yet still you feel an alien here, from somewhere all unknown." (OrEd.WkBk.182.1) When most people feel this they project it onto things in their lives that they believe are contributing to their unhappiness – at least by their analysis. Perhaps it’s their intimate partner who just isn’t complementing their needs. Our bodies and their states of physical health and relative beauty are easy targets for something wrong. Our financial health and status is another easy source of grievances – something definitely not right. Our job, let’s talk about what’s wrong with it … and we do over and over and over again. But it isn’t any of those things. The haunting feeling of something not right is because we are not at home here in the physical world and part of us always knows this. As long as we are here this will never change. I was guided years ago to call this haunting feeling our “Divine Homesickness.” Join me Sunday as we explore this condition, how to make peace with it, and even how to turn it into a positive. 29 min.
