Bruce Pardy joins us on the SAM Podcast to share his thoughts on the recent ‘Rouleau report’ and how it potentially signals Canada is shifting towards being a liberal security state. We discuss why many Canadian lawsuits directed at protecting individual rights and freedoms (in regard to Covid-19 measures) have failed in the Canadian court system. We then examine the reasons for the lack of progress in the courts by questioning, "Has the lack of the courts protection of individual rights and freedoms over the past few years indicated the erosion or the tough realities of the Canadian legal system?"

Bruce Pardy is professor of law at Queen’s University and executive director of Rights Probe.
