The Park City Police Department was established in 1884 and has provided law enforcement services throughout the many changes Park City has experienced, from our rich mining past to the world class multi-seasonal resort we are today.

The Park City Police Department works hard to engage with our community and work together to enhance and protect the life, safety, and wellness of individuals and families. Our philosophy centers on partnering with the community to provide a safe and equitable environment. We are committed to community oriented policing, which includes dedicated personnel for community education and outreach. Additionally, all officers are actively involved in community projects, police support at community events, and are dedicated to engage with individual members of our community when concerns arise.

As a department, we recognize that we have a responsibility to hold ourselves to a high standard. For this reason, we have proactively trained our officers on implicit bias, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques to equip officers with resources to keep the community, and themselves, safe. We established a Use of Force Review Board several years ago that reviews all uses of force within the department to ensure that there is additional oversight when force is used. We were also one of the first departments to adopt a body camera program, and we have been recognized by the federal government for the efficacy of our program.
