The New River is a seasonal waterway that runs through the northern part of the Phoenix metropolitan area in Arizona. It originates in the Bradshaw Mountains and flows for approximately 70 miles before eventually joining the Salt River. The river is a vital source of water for agriculture, urban and wildlife use in the region.

In recent years, the New River has been known to experience fluctuating water levels due to a variety of factors such as weather patterns, drought conditions, and human activities like construction. In times of heavy rainfall, the river can swell and become a powerful force, often causing flooding and property damage along its banks.

New River in Peoria, Arizona has been flowing consistently for two weeks straight. This is because of rainfall and snowmelt in the surrounding areas. Additionally it could also be the result of intentional water management practices such as releasing water from upstream reservoirs.

Regardless of the reason, a sustained flow of water in the New River is a positive sign for the local ecosystem, providing crucial support for the region's plant and animal life. Also gives me water to filter when out bike touring.
