Skibbereen by Patrick Carpenter

Last night in #Yass we had a fabulous evening of music, poetry and song celebrating St Patrick's day. The event was put together by our local Irish & Celtic festival committee and held at the Golf Club.

We had a very talented Irish singer, Inez Hargaden, come out from Canberra and sing several Irish standards, along with some Cranberries and Corrs.

You can watch a few clips of the evening here:

Inez sang this song, and it was also the song Seth Mountain (@sethmountain ) picked for this St Patrick's:

Some people change the final verse to 'remember' rather than 'revenge', but this song was written after the famine and the failed uprising of 1848 as fuel for the successful 1918 rebellion which established Ireland as a nation again.
