In 1 John 3:8-9, the Apostle John is explaining that there are two opposing forces at work in the world: the children of God and the children of the devil. Those who commit sin are considered to be of the devil because the devil sinned from the beginning and is the father of sin.

However, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested in the world to destroy the works of the devil, which includes sin and its effects. Jesus came to redeem humanity from the power of sin and to make it possible for them to live in righteousness and holiness.

Those who are born of God are transformed by His power and given a new nature. The seed of God, which is the Holy Spirit, remains in them and enables them to live a life free from sin. This does not mean that they will never sin again, but it means that they will not live a lifestyle of sin and will always have the power to overcome it.

Therefore, the message of 1 John 3:8-9 is that those who are born of God should strive to live a life of righteousness and holiness, because sin has no place in their lives. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that they are able to live in victory over sin and be transformed into the image of Christ.
