WWII - 284th Engineer Combat Battalion part 1

The 284th Engineer Combat Battalion was a 'late' war unit that was comprised mainly of older 'draftees'. This video, put together from 'home movies' from 1944 that show the 284th Engineer Combat Battalion during basic training, the trip overseas on the USS Marine Raven, bridge training in England at Delamere Park Camp, life at Camp Twenty Grand in France and then infantry training in Moutfourt Luxembourg.

The video stops there as the SGT taking the video was hit by artillery fire when the 284th served as infantry with the 6th Armored Division. Luckily he lived but the war ended for him that day.

As the historian for the 284th ECB, of which my father served in, I do hope that you enjoy this extremely rare footage and to learn more about their time in WWII please visit 284thcombatengineers.com
