Nazaré, a coastal town in Portugal, is home to the biggest surfable waves on the planet

The biggest wave ever surfed (or at least that’s been officially recorded) was over 26m high. This world record was set in October 2020 by German surfer Sebastian Steudtner.

Even if you’re not a surfer yourself, Nazaré is a nice destination to visit – you can get a bit of the thrill of big wave surfing by watching from the shore!
