Why try? Firstly because there is nothing else to do in this life: If you want any chance at a fulfilling human experience, you will need to continue trying.

"Mental health", then, means the willingness/ability to accept that life is an effort at potentially nothing, and finding a way to continue functioning in spite of that predicament.
