She Doesn’t Care… ®Mac, was composed on piano, however the interesting part in this process was that the beat of the song was composed on a drum machine. This was a great inspiration of the song’s development. I decided to put in real handclaps that took up a lot of tracks.
The vibe of the song was meant to be Nineties orientated style of composing however it should also have to blend in seamless into this day and age of music. I think that goal was achieved in a very clever way of mixing a huge range of Synthesizer sounds. Vocals, lest talk about the Vocals.
The vocals took up more than 80 tracks. Every single part and every word had to be sang out in a clear way yet still keep the soul and groove. It speaks for itself that this was not going to be an easy task, there for it took me months to prepare the vocal tracks. The end-result in the mix was stunning. Wide and rich in all registers. The vocals are truly a masterpiece in its class.
The synth sounds compliment the entire arrangement. Engineering, engineering She Doesn’t Care… was a very complicated frustrating experience. Given my musical background I wanted the instruments to sound louder but I had to consider the many tracks of vocals that had to fit the entire song. I don’t know if I could pull it off if I had to do it over but I’m glad I survived the necessary engineering that has made the song for what it is now.

Listening to the song over and over again made the song grow on me, and I can proudly say “I dig it”
