A group of violent agitators were arrested after they attempted to carry out an attack while using a peaceful protest as a cover.

Police have reportedly arrested a total of 23 attackers who got charged with domestic terrorism.

The group conducted a coordinated attack on construction equipment and police officers during a protest of the proposed Atlanta Public Safety Training Centre, in Atlanta, in the US state of Georgia on 5th March.

The agitators changed into black clothing, entered the construction area, and began to throw large rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails, and fireworks at police officers.

Several pieces of construction equipment were destroyed by fire and vandalism before multiple law enforcement agencies were able to detain and arrest the perpetrators.

A total of 35 agitators were detained, and 23 of them were later arrested and charged with Domestic Terrorism by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The Atlanta Police Department emphasized that the illegal actions of the agitators could have resulted in bodily harm and were not representative of a peaceful demonstration.

The department has put in place a multi-layered strategy, including reactions and arrests, to maintain order during upcoming protests.

They have urged protesters to remain peaceful and expressed their commitment to ensuring the safety of all involved.
