Garage Sale, Estate Sale & Flea Market Shopping! | Three Ways to Thrift Vintage

Thrift price shopping without ever setting foot in a thrift store? It's possible in Largo, Florida's sunny winter, where a new flea market, an annual community trailer park sale, garage and estate sales make it easy to find a whole bunch of deals on antique and vintage discoveries!

Second time's the charm for us at the flea market, where last week's blowout makes dealers hungry to blow out vintage and antiques. Curbdigger Carl comes with me to hunt, and we come away with bargains on collections of costume jewelry, razors and kitchen scales. A boho booth proffers $5 deals on a pressed butterfly vase and an Italian mid-century ewer, and see a woman who's overstuffed truckload puts my packing to shame!

Bookending our flea market visit are trips to a community sale, garage sales and a last-minute trip to an estate sale that's clearing everything left at half-off! An Irish tam for $3, an ammo box for $5, railroad items left in a desk and a shell worth its weight in brass join our pile, while we contemplate what to do with a handsome and cheap antique sideboard and a really stylish set of 1950s dishware.

We go home to divvy up the loot, and marvel about how much (and how little) we spent! Thrifting vintage is easy when you thrift outside of the thrift store box.
