Despite the network's interest in ordering at least another season of The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons' decision to exit ultimately spelled its end. While The Big Bang Theory was able to craft a mostly satisfying send-off for the Pasadena gang, however, there is continued interest in the show, with a future revival not impossible. Four years since The Big Bang Theory ended, its legacy continues via Young Sheldon. As an origin story for Sheldon, it tackles his time living with his family in Medford, Texas. Admittedly, Young Sheldon has created many TBBT plot holes, but it also offers long-awaited explanations for some of Sheldon's oddest quirks. Sometimes, Young Sheldon also gives an idea of what his future might have looked like had The Big Bang Theory continued beyond season 12. Young Sheldon Offered A Glimpse Of How Sheldon Is As A Father By the end of The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon had already achieved his lifelong dream of winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. This was a natural place to leave the character, but thanks to the adult narration in Young Sheldon, it has subsequently been established that his life only got better after the flagship series wrapped up, as he went on to have kids with Amy. Becoming a father could have been Sheldon's arc in The Big Bang Theory season 12, but while that did not come to pass, Young Sheldon season 6 confirms that, perhaps surprisingly, he would have been a great father. In "Teen Angst and a Smart-Boy Walk of Shame," Mandy and the rest of the Coopers deal with the real-world ramifications of having a newborn in the family. Despite Mary and Meemaw's help, it is clear that baby Constance's mother is struggling with her child. Unexpectedly, however, when Sheldon spends time with his niece in Young Sheldon season 6, he is able to easily soothe her by singing "Soft Kitty." This Young Sheldon moment establishes that, despite his infamous social ineptitude and emotional deficiency, Sheldon is good with kids. He may not realize it himself, but even Mandy is surprised at how capable Sheldon is of handling baby Constance. Why Sheldon Is Surprisingly Good With Baby Constance Although Young Sheldon may be better off without Sheldon at this point, he remains its central character. Instead of isolating Sheldon with East Texas Tech-based narratives, it is best for him to have more interactions with his family. Because he barely has had any entanglements with infants and toddlers, both in Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory, there is no in-narrative explanation as to why Sheldon handles baby Constance expertly. That being said, it could very well be a trait that Sheldon inherited from his mother, Mary, who talks about also handling her granddaughter easily. Since Sheldon displays some of his mom's worst traits, it makes sense that he also inherited some of her best ones in Young Sheldon .
