Rihanna soars at 2023 Oscars with powerful first performance of 'Lift Me Up':

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler previously spoke about getting Rihanna to end her musical hiatus. He explained that he wanted the film's closing song to not only honor the memory of leading star Chadwick Boseman, who died in 2020, but to also reflect the experience of parenthood.
"Chadwick's powerful artistry, his magnetism and incomparable humanity left an indelible mark on our hearts. Chadwick embodied the Wakandan king T'Challa."
The singer dazzled in a sparkling Maison Margiela Artisanal ensemble custom made for her by John Galliano for Maison Margiela.
Her emotional performance earned a standing ovation from the audience (including the artist's super fan boyfriend A$AP Rocky, who raised his glass in celebration) in the Dolby Theater.

Rihanna had her biggest fan in the audience at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday: her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky! After the singer's moving performance of 'Lift Me Up' from 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,' the rapper was seen cheering her on in the audience. It's a big moment for Rihanna, as it's her first performance at the awards show. Plus, she's nominated for her first Oscar for the track, too. The Oscars aired Sunday on ABC.
