Were you working on the Parker account?
Till 2am in the morning
Or were you down at Jacks bar
Drinking another shot, to ease the pain
Or did you just miss that dinner date

Miss the love train
Conductor said don’t worry son
Short Line’s on its way

Another stop in another town
Gets his morning paper puts his quarter down
Cup a coffee and he’s on his way
Says to himself, gonna be a bright day
Wonders if he got on the right train

I remember when I was a kid
I put a quarter on the track
I’d make a wish
I’d wonder if my love would come back

Heads or tails, I flip that coin
I look down that track
I can see for miles and miles of troubled times
I know my love ain’t coming back
