Bunaken is an island covering an area of ​​8.08 km² in Manado Bay , which is located on the northern island of Sulawesi , Indonesia . This island is part of the city of Manado , the provincial capital of North Sulawesi , Indonesia . Bunaken Island can be reached by fast boat ( speed boat ) or a chartered boat with a journey of about 30 minutes from the port city of Manado . Around the island of Bunaken there is the Bunaken marine park which is part of the Bunaken National Park . This marine park has one of the highest marine biodiversity in the world. Scuba diving attracts many visitors to the island. Overall the Bunaken marine park covers an area of ​​75,265 hectares with five islands within it, namely Manado Tua Island (Manarauw), Bunaken Island, Siladen Island , Mantehage Island and several of its sub islands, and Naen Island . Although it covers an area of ​​75,265 hectares, the dive sites are limited to each of the beaches that surround the five islands.

Bunaken Marine Park has 20 dive spots with varying depths of up to 1,344 meters. Of the 20 dive points, 12 of which are located around Bunaken Island. These twelve dive points are the most frequently visited by divers and lovers of the beauty of underwater scenery.

Most of the 12 dive points on Bunaken Island are lined up from the southeast to the northwest of the island. It is in this area that there are underwater great walls , which are also called hanging walls , or giant coral walls that stand vertically and curve upwards. This coral wall is also a source of food for fish in the waters around Bunaken Island.
