Come -N- Get It!
Our annual snowfall at the Ranch is typically about 4-5 feet but every 3-5 years we get some doozies.
Here's some data:

In 2017 we got ☃️ 122” ⛄️ at the ranch, that was a killer year... we were living in a Luge, walking in tunnels of snow. There's a video of Zeus walking around at night with his headlamp around his neck here.

In 2018 we got 😫18.5”😩 (below normal)
Never even started the snow plow... worked like it was summer, although it was very cold on buildings, barns and projects through the winter.
The following summer the forest was so dry and the timber was so thick you couldn't even walk through it. The forest service has been very stingy allowing anyone private or commercial to cut ANY wood, standing dead or not. In 2014 we had a huge pine beetle infestation and from the air it looked like 40% of the forest died. The forest service still disallowed any cutting...their excuse is they don't want roads into the wilderness because irresponsible people will drive deep into the forest and cause forest fires and burn the forest down...
Well in the summer of 2018, the forest was extremely dry and some irresponsible campers on the edge of the forest near Dollar Ridge Peak up from Solder Creek reservoir, left their campfire burning and went home on a Sunday afternoon. The campfire got out of the firepit and caught beetle killed trees on fire... the resulting fire was known as the "Dollar Ridge Fire" and ended up burning almost 70,000 acres of forest, 75 homes and damaged 6 other homes. It wiped out numerous private summer cabin and camping sites and all of the possessions that people were keeping there in sheds, camp trailers and containers.
The fire came within 6 miles of Cougar Ridge Ranch. While everyone else was evacuated, we were allowed to stay as we had generators and we had the only working weather station connected to the internet in the forest, this was because the power had been shut off to the entire forest community to prevent additional electrical wildfires.

In 2019 the following winter, we got ⛄️99.5”☃️

In 2020 we got ❄️48.5”❄️ (normal year)

In 2021 we got ❄️41.5”❄️ (normal year)

In 2022 we got 😫31.25”😫 (slightly below normal year)
This was so little snow over 6 months that I never started the snow plow.

2023 - And as of posting this video March 12, 2023 with 8 weeks of snow season left we’re up to
⛄️89.5”⛄️
