SONG FACTS: Body & Soul was the first Haunted North song published in 2015. The song was inspired by a meeting between Randy and Layne Staley's mother. Randy states, "It was an illuminating moment, feeling the grief of a woman who lost her only son. She made me aware of the astounding loss of life among Seattle musicians, known and unknown. I dug deep and the lyrics came from genuine empathy." Randy met Sean a few weeks later at a Black Label Society concert and they began to collaborate on the song. Sean states, "It was fate. The minute I read the lyrics, I knew my music had found a home." It was the birth of THN. Black Label Society bassist JD DeServio joined the duo to record the song and is featured in the video. Maria Rosa makes her debut with an angelic backing vocal on this unplugged version of the song.

(song lyrics)
You lit up the world with dark empathy
We were blind and could not see
A haunting voice of the soul alone
We turned our heads and through the veil
You were gone

Your body and soul at war
The love you lost tore your soul

Broken memories of "wings denied"
Take me back to a time of love
We waited for you, waited so long
Immortal voice, I still hear your song

Your body and soul at war
The love you lost tore your soul
Your body and soul at war
You couldn't take the pain anymore

We dreamed of a day
When your cage of hell would fade away
And we could hear your honesty again.
A star shinning bright, dying night after night
Still hard to believe that you are gone.

Your body and soul at war
The love you lost tore your soul
Your body and soul at war
You couldn't take the pain anymore
