During his senior year of high-school, Andy began studying improv at Second City in Chicago on the weekends. Then, after graduation, he enrolled at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, where he stuck around for one semester. Afterwards, he bounced around for two years from one institution to the next including the University of Illinois and Columbia College, but never wound up earning himself a degree. When he returned to Chicago to attend Columbia, Andy joined Second City again and became an understudy to veterans like Del Close and Charna Halpern. Then, in 1988, Dісk got his first big break when he was tapped to perform in a commercial for Alaska Airlines. Once that advertisement hit the airwaves, Andy packed up all his belongings and moved West to Los Angeles in an attempt to kickstart his career in entertainment.
