Bryan and his siblings wouldn’t stay there indefinitely. They were eventually sent back to the States where they were processed by the foster care system. When their father learned what was happening, he fought to regain custody of his children and eventually won the case, bringing Bryan and the others back home and changing Bryan’s last name to Williams. Bryan then moved in with his father and new step-family in the Magnolia Projects in Central City in the 3rd ward of Uptown New Orleans. There he became close with his step-brother, Elrdrick Wise. Shortly thereafter, these two began committing robberies and selling heroin before getting arrested at the age of 16. Since they were minors, they got off more or less with a slap on the wrist, but the same couldn’t be said the second time when they were arrested at 18 and shipped off for a three-year sentence to the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center where Bryan would wind up serving 18 months before he was acquitted of all charges.
