Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American humorist, journalist, lecturer, and novelist who was born on November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri, and died on April 21, 1910, in Redding, Connecticut.

He acquired international fame for his travel narratives, especially The Innocents Abroad (1869), Roughing It (1872), and Life on the Mississippi (1883), and for his adventure stories of boyhood, especially The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885).

Twain's writings raised important questions about racism, changing landscapes, social divisions, educational access, and other fundamental issues that affected America at the time.

Twain flips Darwin's theory of evolution, which holds that humans descended from "lower animals" or older forebears. He outlines actions taken by powerful individuals against the defenseless and lists the numerous thoughts that caused him to reflect on the lack of humanity.

He was a riverboat captain as well as an inventor, businessman, and more. He led a life that is worth recounting, and the sum of his experiences has taught us things that go beyond what can be learned from storytelling.

Even if his comments are profound, if you take the time to consider them, you'll discover that they contain a wealth of useful advice.
