According to Variety, Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney and Oscar winner Julianne Moore have signed on for the leading roles in the upcoming thriller drama titled Echo Valley. Moore is set to portray the role of grieving horse trainer Kate Garrett, while Sweeney plays her wayward daughter Claire. The project hails from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby as part of his multi-year deal with Apple TV+. Echo Valley will be directed by Michael Pearce from a screenplay written by Ingelsby, who is also serving as a producer. Acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott is attached as a producer through his Scott Free banner. Production is slated to begin this coming summer. “The film follows Kate Garrett, a woman reeling from a personal tragedy who spends her days boarding and training horses on the secluded and picturesque Echo Valley Farm,” reads the synopsis. “Late one night, her wayward daughter Claire arrives at her doorstep, frightened, trembling, and covered in someone else’s blood. From that simple premise, Echo Valley becomes a heart-pounding thriller about just how far a mother will go to save her child.” Executive producers are Rebecca Feuer and Nicole Jordan-Webber for Scott Free, Erika Olde and Sam Roseme for Black Bicycle Entertainment, and Scott Greenberg. It is produced by Scott Free’s Michael Pruss, The Walsh Company’s Kevin Walsh, and Tanja Tawadjoh. Moore was most recently seen in Jesse Eisenberg’s feature directorial debut When You Finish Saving the World. Before starring in Echo Valley, she will first appear in the psychological thriller Sharper with Sebastian Stan, and in Todd Haynes’ May December with Natalie Portman. Sweeney gained recognition for her breakout role as Cassie Howard in HBO’s hit teen drama Euphoria. Her performance in the second season of the Zendaya-led series earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama. The rising star will next be seen in Sony Pictures’ highly-anticipated Spider-Man movie Madame Web.
