The leader of the Wagner Group urged Volodymyr Zelensky to abandon Bakhmut, claiming that his fighters had "virtually besieged" the Ukrainian city.

Evgeny Prigozhin said:
"Paramilitary Wagner's forces have practically surrounded Bahmut, leaving only one way out of the city."

"We used to fight professional armed forces, but now there are more old people and children," Prigozin said in a video shot from the roof of the building.

"They are suffering, but their life expectancy in Bahmut is now very short, a day or two...Give them a chance to get out of town," he said.

The video showed an old man and his two young men begging Zelensky to let go. This was after a Ukrainian military chief said Ukrainian forces had repelled more than 85 attacks in five major sectors of the Bakhmut Front.
