“The people who live the longest, have connections to other people and live with a purpose. .” -Jennifer Roelands

How do we shift the healthcare system's focus towards traditional medicine while still valuing the benefits that medication can provide?

What are the potential risks and benefits of relying too heavily on medication?

In this episode, we have the opportunity to listen to Dr. Jennifer, an integrative women's health and fertility doctor, as she discusses the pervasive societal influence that has led many people to believe that medications are the only solution for healthcare. She offers insights on how to break free from this mindset and instead, provide personalized, holistic care that addresses the root causes of health issues, with the goal of healing, restoring, and empowering women to achieve optimal health.

Dr. Jennifer Roelands is an integrative GYN who specializes in hormone health and is the proud mother of four children. Having suffered from PCOS and hypothyroidism, Dr. Roelands understands the challenges that come with hormonal imbalances. Despite being a doctor herself, she was previously dismissed by other physicians who claimed her lab results were normal, despite experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, hair loss, brain fog, and infertility for over a year. This experience inspired her to dive deeper into nutrition and mind-body medicine, discovering the connection between gut health and hormone health. Dr. Roelands also learned how medications like birth control pills can negatively impact the body by masking symptoms instead of treating the root cause. By focusing on gut health, stress reduction, and the right exercise for her body, she was able to identify the cause of her symptoms, which allowed her to lose weight, clear her skin, feel more rested and energized, and ultimately conceive a child.
