Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited a hospital in Lviv on Friday to award military patients and doctors with medals.

Zelenskyy thanked wounded soldiers for their service, many of whom fought for the territory of Bakhmut.

He also thanked medical workers for helping the soldiers to "get back on their feet."

"I want to thank you and wish all of you who are giving to our military - I wish you health and victory," he added.

During his time in Lviv, Zelenskyy also met with his Latvian counterpart Egils Levits.

Zelenskyy's office said the presidents and the two first ladies, Olena Zelenska and Andra Levite, honoured Ukraine's defenders by laying flowers on the graves of Ukrainian fighters at the Lychakiv cemetery in Lviv.
