Mexican President: My nation has more democracy than U.S., butt out

In a recent speech, AMLO directly addressed US interference in Mexico’s internal affairs and urged the US to “butt out” of Mexico's democracy.

"… When I say that we have more democracy than them it’s because the people rule here and the oligarchy rules there,” Mexican President López Obrador said. He also analyzed the situation in Peru as a coup led by the US Embassy and hinted that the opposition in his country might not be far away.

The president’s remarks followed the publication on Monday of a statement from U.S. Department of State spokesperson Ned Price on the “protests against electoral overhaul in Mexico.”
