Arkansas SB81 is voted down by voice vote; Republican Carol Dalby ignores roll call

SB81 - TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING LIBRARIES AND OBSCENE MATERIALS; TO CREATE THE OFFENSE OF FURNISHING A HARMFUL ITEM TO A MINOR; AND TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING OBSCENE MATERIALS LOANED BY A LIBRARY.

was debated before the Arkansas House Judiciary Committee March 7th, 2023. Despite a Republican Supermajority, the bill failed by voice vote. An attempt to record how people voted, known as a roll call, was ignored by Committee Chair Carol Dalby. Representatives Cindy Crawford and Marcus E. Richmond were at least 2 legislators ignored by Chairman Dalby.

SB81 will be amended and introduced Thursday March 9th in the same committee. SB81 can also be brought out of committee by the Arkansas House, which has over 75 Republican legislators.
