Beginner Wood Turning Project: Resin & Palm Frond Plate

2

I finally turned resin on my small lathe and it wasn't a compete fail! I have been wanting to try wood turning palm fronds for a while, so I started small by adding a few to resin to make a small plate. I poured the resin in several layers and put it in the pressure pot each time, and it came out almost crystal clear. The carbide tools worked amazing on the resin too. It's easy to get discouraged as a beginner wood turner, even on easy projects, so it was nice to have something finally go to plan.
