To Forget Russian History is to Repeat It

Charles Cole has worked at the Defense Language Institute teaching Russian, Traveled to Russia as a member of a cultural exchange USIA team, worked in Naval PSYOP's and spent 50+ years studying Russia and her history. In Russian Wonderland is the story of the real danger we face in Putin and his regime. There was once a country (the Soviet Union, or USSR) which for 75 years was ruled by a small group of Communists in a one-party-dominated government which told its citizens what they could and couldn’t read, say, or do; where they could go and where they couldn’t go; and levied harsh requirements on how they lived their lives.

As I watch American social media platforms censor what people can post, corporations punish and even fire employees for violating speech codes, government bureaucrats issue mask mandates and travel restrictions, etc., I’m beginning to see a very, very dangerous pattern developing.

Rather than focusing on philosophy or politics, I prefer showing my fellow Americans what everyday life was like for Soviet citizens. I saw it firsthand, “up close and personal,” during my career and want to share it so that people can see it for what it is and ask themselves, “Do I really want to live like that?”
