The goal of this series is to edit FF7R to be more faithful to the original game created in 1997.

The original FF7 has one of my favorites stories ever told in a video game. Unfortunately it has aged very poorly, and that makes it difficult to share this wonderful story with new people. I had hoped the FF7R would serve as a faithful retelling that I could share with others to introduce them to the story, but unfortunately that is not the direction Square Enix chose to go. While FF7R is a great game in its own right, and I look forward to seeing where the trilogy goes, in my opinion it is NOT a good entry point to the series for newcomers.

So that's where the Classic Edit comes in. In this series I endeavor to portray the events of the original game as closely as possible, and remove many of the added plot elements from the Remake that stray to far from the original.

Gameplay has been captured in a cinematic manner so that it will blend as seamlessly as possible with the cutscenes for a smooth viewing experience.

This series is meant to be watched like an episodic TV show. By the end a viewer will have seen a more or less faithful retelling up through the Midgar portion of the original story.

I have charted this series and figured out how I will solve almost all of the problems that the Remake presents (even the plot ghosts). Events will not play out EXACTLY as they did in the original but I believe I can capture the soul of the story.

This is just a side project that I originally started to help myself get better at editing in DaVinci Resolve. I don't know how many episodes I will end up making. If there is enough of an audience, then I will finish it. Otherwise I will make as many as I am motivated to create.
