The most important place to practice recall

Recall is the most important skill you can teach your dog. Why? Because it can save their life in an emergency situation. The most important place to practice this is outside your home because that is where you will need this cue to be the most reliable if your dog accidentally gets out. I practice recall EVERYWHERE I go with a dog since dogs don't generalize well & you never know when you may need to call your dog to return to you quickly.

It's also good to practice a lot out front so interacting with you is much more valuable than them wanting to run & explore instead. One of the ways I do that is by paying the dog VERY generously to make this the best word in their vocabulary!
