The Leipzig Gewandhaus Wind Quintet, consisting of flute, clarinet, oboe, horn and bassoon, was founded in 1896 by oboist and composer Alfred Gleißberg (Rockstedt, 26.11.1864 - Leipzig, 21.08.1963): oboist, composer and teacher.
1896: one of the founding members of the Leipzig Gewandhaus-Bläserquintett (wind quintet)
1893-1930: first oboist of the Gewandhausorchester.
1927-1942: taught at the Leipzig Conservatory.
So we can assume that on this recording we hear Alfred Gleißberg on oboe.
