Psalm 51 - God Can Forgive Even the Worst of Sins ❤️ Listen to this … | Knowing God Today!

About Psalm 51:

This is a Psalm of repentance! King David has fallen into serious sin and comes to God for forgiveness.

He has committed adultery and is also guilty of murder.

In this Psalm, David confesses his sins to God holding nothing back. He does not blame anyone for his errors and makes no attempt to excuse his actions.

The Psalm displays David's absolute humility and anguish over sin. He appeals to God's mercy and love, knowing that he can be forgiven. At the same time, David makes no attempt to ask God to spare him from the earthly consequences of his sins.

Psalm 51 is the best-known expression of repentance among the Psalms. It show us the right way to approach God when we are convicted of sin.

God can forgive all sins as long as we come to him in the right spirit of humility and repentance, without making excuses or blaming others.

Psalm Fifty-One Complete Text:

Psalm 51:

To the chief musician: A psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba.

1 Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing kindness.
Because of your great compassion, wipe out the stain of my sins.

2 Wash me clean from my depravity.
Purify me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my rebellion;
my sin haunts me day and night.

4 Against you, and you alone,
have I sinned and done this evil in your sight.
You will be justified in what you say,
and your judgment against me is just.

5 Behold I was born in iniquity
and in sin did my mother conceive me

6 But you desire honesty of the heart,
and if I can’t see what is right, you will teach me

7 Purge me from my sins, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be white as snow.

8 Let me be glad again,
let the bones that you have crushed rejoice

9 Don’t look at my sins,
I am ashamed, forgive me my depravity.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a right spirit within me.

11Do not remove me from your presence,
and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the ecstasy of your salvation,
and a willing spirit shall support me

13 I will teach your ways to transgressors
and sinners and they will return to you.

14 Forgive me for shedding blood, O God of my salvation;
and I will sing with joy for your forgiveness.

15 Open my lips, O Lord, and my mouth will praise you again.

16 You do not desire a blood sacrifice, or I would offer one.
You do not want a burnt offering.

17 What you are looking for O God is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart

18 Do good in your pleasure unto Zion;
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem

19 Then you will be delighted with sacrifices offered in the right spirit,
in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings.
Then young bulls will again be sacrificed on your altar.
