Lightfoot’s Loss is Unusual

Liberals across the country are in shock after Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s stunning defeat in her bid for reelection, before the election has even really begun. After yesterday’s unprecedented vote on the road to Chicago’s City Hall, incumbent Lightfoot has become the first mayor of the Windy City to lose their bid for reelection in forty years.

While this is not necessarily a victory for conservatives, it is a welcome surprise to see the people of Chicago, a traditionally “Blue” city, vote against their Left-wing mayor. But no one can deny that the city is in chaos, and it’s only gotten worse under Lightfoot’s failed leadership. Violent crime has gripped Chicago. Murder rates have continued to rise amid the Left’s calls to defund the police. Mayor Lightfoot also led the campaign to cripple the city with extensive lockdowns during the pandemic, long after many cities had reopened. It seems like even the most extreme liberals in Chicago are not surprised by this loss, but around the country, the Left is clearly rattled.
