500,000 Mexicans gather in El Zocalo Mexico City to protest free and fair elections

MEXICO 🇲🇽 On Sunday, over 500,000 Mexicans filled the Zocalo square in Mexico City, demanding free and fair elections. The citizens were protesting the Mexican government's overhaul of the National Electoral Institute.

At least 22,000 people allegedly gathered in Monterrey, and another 20,000 took to the streets in Guadalajara. Large protests were also held in Cuernavaca and Puebla.

This is the second time in less than four months that Mexicans gathered to protest election-related issues.
