Throughout the Bible it's easy to get caught up in misunderstanding why it seems to portray men and women differently, but if we take the time to step back and realize it was written to a different culture, in a different part of the world, in a different language we might be able to understand that God is actually working diligently to restore his original design and intention for men and women to be equal in value and purpose.
