Installing A PWM Fan Speed Controller In My Tiny House

I installed a new 12 volt DC powered ceiling fan in my tiny house on wheels but it was running too fast for my liking. I want to gently push down the warm air from the ceiling back to the floor and circulate the air through the tiny house.

I have a few PWM (pulse width modulator) fan speed controllers I got off ebay a while back. They were originally intended to slow down the fans I was using in the RV. One of them is now running the ceiling fan in my tiny home.

This PWM motor speed controller has a simple dial speed control. You turn the dial to set the fan speed.

I wired it into my light switch and then pushed it into the box so it will be hidden and protected.

The positive line goes into the light switch and then from there into the PWM fan speed controller. The ground goes straight to my solar battery bank. Of course the positive line is fused for protection.

The output lines of the PWM go straight into my DC ceiling fan.

Now when I flip the switch on I can dial the speed of my ceiling fan. This is perfect and exactly what I wanted.

The wires will soon be hidden behind some homemade trim but for now I taped them together so they look nicer. All the extra wires leading to the switch and controller were tucked into the box and I fastened my switches in place to make it look nice.

I later put the cover plate on the switch box as well, but I did not catch that on video.

Now my off grid solar tiny home has heat from the wood stove moving to all parts of the house.
