Making A Rustic Pallet Wood Bathroom Medicine Cabinet Door

I am working on my tiny house bathroom recently. This project was to make a rustic pallet wood door for my homemade medicine cabinet. The medicine cabinet is also made of pallet wood and you can find it in another video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYg_xZeyfIs

I am building my own tiny house using mostly recycled materials. I get literally tons of pallets so I hope to finish the entire bathroom using reclaimed pallet wood.

The bathroom cabinet door was a job though because I was hoping to use brass screws to hold it together but the screws were twisting in half when I tried to screw them into the wood. Even predrilling the pallet wood they screws broke.

So I headed to town to get some other sort of fasteners for the bathroom cabinet door.

My door is 18 inches wide by 33 inches high. This will give me about an inch on all sides around the door when I center it on the medicine cabinet.

I finally came up with glue, screws and rustic looking tacks to hold the pallet wood door together. I glued everything together. Then screwed the boards on from the back side.

Then on the front side I used rustic looking black metal tacks. These are more for looks than hold though but they sure look nice.

The next job was to predrill holes for the hinges and mount them to the door. I did this inside my tiny house on wheels. I had a bunch of furry helpers for this job.

When I attached the door to the medicine cabinet though I discovered that I had a problem. These hinges are supposed to be recessed into the wood of the door a bit so that they can fully close.

My homemade pallet wood cabinet door will not fully close.

I will have to remove it and take it back outside for some machining later.
