Using My All Natural Homemade Soap I Made On The Wood Stove

My all natural homemade soap is done curing and ready for use. This is the soap I made on top of my tiny house wood stove in a cast iron pot. I used vegetable oil, lye and water as the only ingredients.

This soap is actually quite good for your skin. It has the natural glycerin content which is a natural moisturizer. Most commercial soap manufacturers take out the glycerin when making soap and sell it separate in cosmetics. So essentially you are paying twice for the same thing.

In all natural homemade soap all the original glycerin is preserved.

This soap took on a nice chocolate color from the cast iron pot. Funny enough I learned that many soap makers use iron oxide powder in their soap to get a chocolate color. Mine came out on its own. Bonus.

It has been about 4 weeks since I made this soap. I did the zap test by putting my tongue on the bar of soap. If it zaps like a nine volt battery then the lye has not yet been fully used up on the curing process.

My soap did not zap me so it was ready to use. Curing can take between 4 to 8 weeks.

I have been using my homemade soap for bathing and hand washing. It lathers better than any soap I have had. I dont know why actually that this batch of soap lathers better than any other but it does. The only difference is that I used a cast iron pot to cook it in.

I also used the wood stove which is not accurate at all. I could not control the heat with it.

The soap leaves you feeling clean and fresh. There are no chemical residues and no dry or harsh feeling after bathing with this soap. Many commercial soaps are made with a lot of artificial chemicals and these are not only unhealthy for you but they leave a coating on your skin.

Homemade soap is the best thing you can use on your body. Remember that your skin absorbs whatever you put on it. You do not want to be ingesting chemicals. So why would you bathe in them?

I will never go back to commercial soaps again.
